Pre-admission conferences to be held for WKCTC's PTA and Pharmacy Technology Programs

Paducah, KY (09/10/2019) — Pre-admission conferences for the physical therapist assistant and the pharmacy technology programs at West Kentucky Community and Technical College will be held this month.

Individuals who are interested in earning a certificate or diploma in pharmacy technology at WKCTC must complete an application and attend a pre-admission conference to be considered for selective admissions program.

Pre-admission conferences for the pharmacy technology program will be held September 18 and 23 at 3 p.m. in the Anderson Technical Building, Room 207. Applications are available outside of Room 213 in the Anderson Technology Building or by contacting Program Coordinator Melissa Burgess at melissa.burgess@kctcs or 270-534-3495. Applications must be submitted by October 1 for consideration.

A pharmacy technician performs technical functions under the direction of a registered pharmacist including prescription preparation, inventory, repackaging and compounding. Pharmacy technicians can work in either a community or institutional pharmacy. Community pharmacies consist of chain, franchise, independent, and mail-order pharmacies. Institutional pharmacies include hospital, home healthcare, long-term care facilities, and managed-care pharmacies.

Those interested in the becoming a physical therapist assistant must also attend a pre-admission conference to begin the process for the selective admission program.

The pre-admission conference for the physical therapist assistant (PTA) program will be held September 23 at 4 p.m. in the Allied Health Building, Room E105.

Physical therapist assistants provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist. PTAs help people of all ages who have medical problems, or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
