WKCTC MEDIA RELEASE: Paducah, KY (04/25/2017) — Paducah School of Art and Design will host an opening reception tomorrow for an exhibition titled Permutations - artworks by students currently enrolled in the art school's "Survival Skills for Artists" class.

The reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. and will be on display the Paducah Junior College (PJC) Gallery on the second floor of the 2D and Graphic Design Building at 905 Harrison Street. Permutations will be on display from April 25 - May 5.

Permutations coincides with the reception of the Made in Europe exhibition, which also opens tomorrow in the Bill Ford Gallery in the 2D and Graphic Design Building. This exhibition is PSAD's first sanctioned collaboration with the American Quilter's Society during this week's internationally renowned QuiltWeek in Paducah. Both receptions and exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Works displayed in Permutations include sculpture, ceramics, photography, and drawing, and this is the fifth year the "Survival Skills" class has presented an exhibition. Participating students in this year's exhibit are Kaytlyn Collins, Erin Gericke, Nathan Kelley, Linda Sloan, Rebekah Thuline, DeAnn Willett, Joanne Wong-Hammonds, and Megan Zerger

The class, taught by PSAD's Professor of Drawing Randy Simmons, is designed to prepare students for their next step into the art world, teach them to prepare their portfolios to best represent themselves, and how to professionally display their work in a public venue. The class also teaches skills in photographing artwork, safe studio practices, and marketing strategies.

PSAD gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bill Ford Gallery hours during QuiltWeek are Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
