The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

A WKCTC professor, Gericke has taught economics and statistics at the college since 1999 as well as courses in transitional math from 1994-1999. He gained a master of science degree and a doctorate in resource economics from Virginia Tech.
