WKCTC Holds Annual Fall In-Service Meeting

Paducah, KY (08/12/2019) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College held its annual In-Service meeting Friday, August 9 in Paducah. The meeting was the official kick-off for the fall semester and provides college leadership an opportunity to provide updates to faculty and staff before classes begin August 19.

WKCTC President Anton Reece opened the day with reflections of the accomplishments that occurred for the college over the last year. He challenged all college employees to think about the impact they have on students and students' success while also encouraging the continuation of the college's culture of excellence and work toward efficacy and efficiency. The keynote speaker Ron Crouch, a demographer and former director of research in the state workforce cabinet, discussed many trends in Kentucky populations and their impact on communities and higher education. The day concluded with a visit from Paducah Banks' WOW ice cream truck.

In addition to college updates, David Heflin, vice president of academic affairs, recognized several faculty promotions. They were:

Assistant Professor - Kathryn Broadbent of West Paducah, chemistry; Melissa Burgess of Benton, pharmacy technology; Dr. Gwendolyn L. Duncan of Paducah, nursing; Bo Powell of Paducah, electrical technology; Kimberly Savage of Paducah, diagnostic medical sonography

Associate Professor - Sam Arnone, computerized manufacturing & machining; Paul Caldwell, welding; and Brent Taylor, history.

Professor - Laura Durbin, nursing; Allison Smith, business; Christy Petitt, nursing; and Julie Thompson, mathematics

Those achieving a milestone for years of service were:

Five Years - Sarah J. Davis of Kevil, Curt D. Green of Golconda, Ill., Justin L. Hill of Mayfield, Michael U. McClaurin, Reginald L. Morton, Stephanie M. Osterhout, Aseer I. Scott, and Cody Vannerson, all of Paducah.

Ten Years - Latoya A. Jones of Mayfield, Ashley N. Neely, Britton Shurley, Sara J. Tucker, and Geelyn M. Warren, all of Paducah

Fifteen Years -Bobbi J. Buchanan of Symsonia, Patricia Buchanan of Benton, and Octavia Lawrence of Paducah

Twenty Years - Dr. Kevin Gericke of West Paducah, Susan Graves of Paducah, Tracy L. McDanel of LaCenter, Rhonda Shiflett of Melber, Jason Taylor and Kiki West-Johnson, both of Paducah

Twenty-Five Years - Rhonda J. Adkins of Metropolis, Ill.

Thirty Years - Julie A. Moore of Paducah, Roger D. Rives of Symsonia, John D. Vos of Paducah, Kelly R. Wright of Grand Rivers

Thirty-Five Years - Monica A. Collier of Kevil
