Paducah, KY (04/06/2022) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) will celebrate Earth Week beginning April 16 with fun, educational activities and live music at its Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The college invites faculty, staff, students and community members to share in the free event that will be held rain or shine at PSAD's 2D Graphic Design Building at 905 Harrison Street.

Many WKCTC departments/student organizations and community organizations will be hosting activities throughout the day including:

Participants can also enjoy various crafts, games, chemistry projects and live music from area bands.

"We invite everyone to come and celebrate Earth Day with us," said Amanda Balcerzak, WKCTC Earth Day committee member, and biology, chemistry, and pharmacy technology instructor. "This is an opportunity to learn more about what is going on locally, how to help our planet, and simply meet to celebrate life on Earth," said Dr. Balcerzak.

Earth Day, which began in 1970, is celebrated annually in April with events worldwide in support of the environment and to raise awareness for the environmental protection and care of the planet. Like WKCTC, many communities' Earth Day celebrations are part of Earth Week, an entire week of activities.
