2018 May 21

Charity Itiav-Gar of Paducah is a member of West Kentucky Community and Technical College's justice club, Alpha Epsilon Beta, and helped organize this year's annual 5K run/walk that raised $2400 last month for Paducah's Child Watch Counseling and Advocacy Center.

For the past seven year's AEB's Justice Run to Fight Child Abuse has been an ongoing fundrasiser for Child Watch, a long established non-profit organization that works to treat and prevent child abuse.

Students and AEB advisor, Gary Reese, present a check from race proceeds to Child Watch representatives a couple of weeks followning the race. This year's $2400 check was presented May 10 outside the college's Student Center, bringing the total to $13,300 for the child advocacy center. Other race participants also attended this year's check presentation.

Through next year's Justice Run, Reese said the goal is to put the total funds for Child Watch closer to $15,000.

"We host this race every April in honor of National Child Abuse Awareness Month. Each year our AEB students are dedicated to supporting this worthy cause. I am always so proud of them," he said.
