Hunter Wilkerson of Mayfield Graduates from WKCTC

2017 May 12

Hunter Wilkerson of Mayfield, KY was one of more than 780 candidates for graduation who recently completed their classwork with an associate degree, diploma or certificate from West Kentucky Community and Technical College. More than 200 students participated in WKCTC's 2017 Spring Commencement Ceremonies at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center May 6, 2017.

Wilkerson was one of several students to receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Computerized Manufacturing & Machining with distinction _ a grade point average between 3.400 _ 3.599 with at least 45 credit hours..

Presiding over his first WKCTC Spring Graduation since becoming president in October 2016, Dr. Anton R. Reece called the graduates "the face of America."

"You came to our college and saw it as a place of hope and encouragement," Dr. Reece said. "You have the knowledge and skill sets because of entering our doors to now have a better life."

Featured speaker Paducah Mayor Brandi Harless, who described herself as a farm girl from Ballard County, encouraged the graduates to put themselves into situations outside their comfort zone. "You've probably heard the cliche, 'it's not about what happens to you; it's about how you respond to what happens to you.' Remembering that has been more important in my life than anything else."

Congratulations, Hunter!
