2014 Oct 20

Peyton Puckett of Mayfield, KY, a graduate of Graves County High School, is one of fifteen West Kentucky Community and Technical College students recently named to the college's 2014-2015 West Kentucky Stars club basketball team.

The Stars will kick off the season with a Pink-Out Celebration October 30 to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month October 30. The celebration begins at 5:45 p.m. in Haws Gym with carnival games, music, a candy give-away by WKCTC student organizations, and the chance to have photographs taken with the basketball players and cheerleaders.

"We wanted to show our support for breast cancer awareness at this year's first home game with fun activities for the whole family," said Amy Elmore, WKCTC student activities coordinator. "We ask everyone in the community to join us by wearing pink to the game and participating in the Pink-Out activities to support the fight against cancer."

The game begins at 7 p.m. in Haws Gym when the Stars take on Bethel University. Game tickets are $5, but as part of the Pink-Out event, children under twelve get in free and adults wearing pink get in for $3.

The WKCTC cheerleaders have prepared a special STOMP for a Cure routine they will perform during halftime of the game.

The Stars will play 30 games this season with 13 home games in Haws Gym and one home game placed at McCracken County High School. To view the full schedule, visit http://www.westkentucky.kctcs.edu/Student_Life/Sports_Activities/Basketball.aspx.
