543 Students Awarded 2024-2025 Scholarships at WKCTC

Paducah, KY (11/19/2024) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) awarded $900,000 in scholarships to 543 students in the 2024-2025 academic year, college officials announced today. The total monetary amount represents 583 scholarships awarded.

More than 1052 applications were submitted for this fiscal year which ends June 30, 2025, said Andy Wilson, executive director of the Paducah Junior College (PJC), the charitable foundation for WKCTC. The foundation disburses scholarship funding at WKCTC.

Wilson, who is also vice president of institutional advancement at WKCTC, said scholarship awards were possible this year through the generosity of donors.

"Scholarships are vital for our students at WKCTC, as they open doors to education and opportunity that might otherwise be out of reach," Wilson said. "The generosity of our community in supporting these students doesn't just change individual lives-it strengthens the fabric of our region. Each gift reinforces the PJC Foundation's commitment to advancing education and supporting scholarships that empower our students and uplift our community."

WKCTC has expanded eligibility for academic or "merit" scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year, for which applications are currently being accepted. "WKCTC offers merit-based scholarships to entering students who demonstrate academic excellence, with a GPA of 2.75 or higher," said Wilson.

"Additionally, the PJC Foundation manages the endowed and annual scholarship program, awarding competitive scholarships to deserving students who have shown dedication and promise. Together, we're committed to supporting students reaching their full potential through access to higher education."

In addition to merit-based scholarships for incoming freshmen, WKCTC offers need-based, program-specific, and other scholarships, including those designated for non-traditional and current WKCTC students. Applications for all scholarships are accepted through the WKCTC website.

Scholarship applications for the academic year that begins in August 2025 must be received by March 1, 2025. Students with scholarship application or financial aid questions may contact the WKCTC financial aid office at 270-534-3069.

Donations to PJC are tax deductible. Anyone interested in making a donation may contact Wilson at andy.wilson@kctcs.edu or 270-534-3084.
