Paducah, KY (06/06/2018) — Being a part of the West Kentucky Community and Technical College family is something student Seyi Aro knows well.

"WKCTC is a big part of the reason I want to continue my education and to keep pushing continue to study in the United States at a four-year-university," said the 20-year-old Nigerian native, who enrolled in classes in spring 2016.

He is a member of the Student Government Association, a student ambassador, a member of the Hispanic Culture Club and is set to graduate from WKCTC in May 2019. "Being able to be involved with school events and organizations and having input with my ideas has given me a voice at the college and helped me feel a part of this family."

WKCTC is offering registration and orientation opportunities for other students to also become part of the college family.

Registration is open now for the last summer session and fall classes. The summer session begins June 14 and fall classes begin August 13. Students are encouraged to register early for fall classes to insure they get the classes they want.

"We are excited to welcome our new students to the WKCTC family. Moreover, we are thrilled when students decide to join our community dedicated to supporting them through their educational journey," said Emily Peck, WKCTC vice president of student services. "Our new student orientations are a wonderful opportunity to make important and lasting connections with peers, current students and our supportive faculty and staff."

WKCTC has four new student orientations scheduled to provide students and their parents with information to navigate the first semester and beyond. Sessions will include details on advising, student resources, financial aid, technology and parent break-out sessions.

"We want to provide our new students with the information they need to be successful at WKCTC in a conversational way that will include fun too," said Trent Johnson, admissions director. "We will have refreshments and students will also be able to enter a drawing for some great prizes throughout the day as well."

To better serve students and their families, each session will be condensed into two and a half hour increments.

Additionally, if an individual has not taken a required test, that can be scheduled as well.

WKCTC's Express Enrollment Week will be held July 18-21 in the Anderson Technical Building's Advising Center, Room 106 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. WKCTC representatives will be on hand to help potential students complete the enrollment process for the fall semester.
