WKCTC Receives Two Regional Marketing Awards

Paducah, KY (10/23/2020) — Paducah resident Mary Beth Head recently received two of more than a dozen awards for outstanding achievement in marketing communications awarded to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and four of its community colleges, college officials announced today.

The Medallion Awards sponsored by the National Conference for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 2, were announced in a virtual celebration October 22. NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,700 members from nearly 650 colleges across the United States and Canada.

NCMPR District 2 includes community colleges in 11 southeastern states, along with the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Graphic designer and web manager on West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC)'s marketing team for seven years, Head received a silver award in the logo design category for her design of the Clemens Fine Art Center's Inside Out logo and also a silver award in the academic catalog or class schedule category for her 2020 Summer & Fall Class Schedule.

"Mary Beth consistently does outstanding and creative work at our college in addition to her overall superior work ethic," said Janett Blythe, director of marketing and communication at WKCTC. "This recognition is long overdue for someone who does an excellent job every day in the background."

During the celebration, KCTCS Chief Marketing Officer Terri Giltner received the Communicator of the Year Award. During her 16 years at KCTCS, Giltner turned the department into a full-service marketing agency serving the 16 colleges. She established a research-based marketing framework that includes on-going statewide market research and data-driven campaigns. She created marketing policies and procedures for crisis communications, branding, web services, social media and media relations.

The Communicator Award is one of the most prestigious presented to an NCMPR member who has demonstrated leadership and ability in the area of college communications. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR's seven districts, and district recipients automatically qualify to compete for the national award.
