WKCTC's Tammy Thompson Recognized at KCTCS Board of Regents Meeting
Paducah, KY (09/18/2021) — McCracken County resident Tammy Thompson was one of three Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents recognized at their last meeting today in Versailles. Thompson, public relations coordinator at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, served six years through two terms on the board.
"It has been such an honor to serve on the board," said Thompson, who has worked at WKCTC since 1993. "I've learned so much and enjoyed every minute of it."
WKCTC President Anton Reece congratulated Thompson on her board tenure. "Thank you for your service to the KCTCS board," he said.
In addition to Thompson, Angela Fultz, faculty member from Maysville Community and Technical College, and Mark Wells, faculty member from Big Sandy Community and Technical College, were honored for their service on the board. Elections will be held this fall to replace these regents.
KCTCS is governed by a 14-member Board of Regents, the majority of whom are appointed by the Kentucky governor. The board provides oversight of issues such as tuition and budget approval, new programs and credential approval as well as the selection and yearly evaluation of the system president. The faculty and staff regents serve three-year terms.
Thompson served as the secretary of the KCTCS Board of Regents during her first term. She received an associate in science degree in 1989 from Paducah Community College (now known as WKCTC) and a bachelor's degree in radio and television from Murray State University in 1991. She worked at WPSD-TV Local 6 following graduation. Prior to accepting the position as public relations coordinator in 2009, Thompson worked as a television producer/director for the college's television department for 16 years.
