WKCTC to Host Information Technology Conference November 15

Paducah, KY (11/07/2019) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College is hosting its annual IT CONNECT, an information technology (IT) conference to bring together avid IT professionals to showcase the region's best companies and to share about IT careers within the region.

IT CONNECT will be held in the college's Clemens Fine Arts Center and throughout campus November 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year's theme is "Where IT Meets You" and aims to provide a networking opportunity for alumni, new and potential students, industry and the public.

The keynote speakers are Wes Spencer and Wes Kerr.

Spencer is a nationally recognized technology innovator and cybersecurity expert. He is the chief information security officer of Florida's Perch Security, a co-managed threat detection and response platform backed by an in-house Security Operations Center. As the senior executive for the company, Spencer focuses on internal and external cybersecurity. The title of his presentation is "Cybersecurity in the Modern Era: Threats, Opportunities and a Rewarding Career."

Kerr is a Murray State University graduate from the Telecommunications Systems Management program, and has worked in Kentucky and all over the nation to help bring better connectivity to rural communities. He serves as the director for Community Solutions where he focuses on solutions for access, adoption, and use of broadband and connected technologies. The title of Kerr's presentation is "Connections," and he will examine and discuss connectivity.

Oher speakers include Jeff Nelson, CSI - Paducah office; Bruce Lunde, Sprocket Paducah; Willie Kerns, Connected Nation; Andy Adams, Four Rivers Nuclear Partnerships/Twin Rivers Investigations; Jay Orazine, Baptist Health Paducah; and Steve Smith, Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Unit.
