WKCTC Commemorates 9/11 with Witness Presentation September 6

MEDIA RELEASE: Paducah, KY (08/31/2017) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College will remember September 11, 2001, as two WKCTC employees who witnessed the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks share their stories September 6 at 11 a.m. in Mathson Library.

During the hour-long presentation, titled, "They Were There," WKCTC's Brian Heller and John Lewter, who were in Washington D.C. and New York City, respectively, on 9/11 will share their experiences of the traumatic day. Audience members are welcomed to share their memories of 9/11 following the presentation. The event is free and open to the public.

"9/11 was a shock to everyone, even in far away places like Paducah. In the aftermath of the day, everyone understood what it meant, but now that many years have passed, it is time to share those stories with those too young to remember them," said Brent Taylor, WKCTC assistant professor of history and event coordinator.

"What people can expect at this event is to feel the experience of what it was like to be in New York and Washington D.C. on 9/11 as Brian and John tell about what they went through at the epicenter of the most important event of the 21st century," said Taylor.
