BEST OF WEST KENTUCKY FEATURED AT WKCTC SCHOLARSHIP AUCTION
Barbecue and Auction Set for September 20, Julian Carroll Convention Center
Paducah, KY (08/30/2018) — Area residents can get a jump start on the barbecue bonanza that hits Paducah each fall by attending West Kentucky Community and Technical College's 2018 scholarship auction Thursday, September 20 at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. The annual event, which includes dinner and live and silent auctions, raises money to help deserving students pursue an education at WKCTC. The long-running fundraiser is hosted by Paducah Junior College (PJC), the charitable foundation for WKCTC.
For the second consecutive year, the evening will feature WKCTC's more casual, western theme - West is Best - that centers on the college's focus on regionalism and highlights regional favorites, including West Kentucky barbecue. Each of the counties in WKCTC's 10-county service region in Kentucky and its five county partners in southern Illinois will be highlighted at the event.
"The West is Best Barbecue and Auction is a perfect time to showcase our region and all that makes it the wonderful place it is, while also raising funds to help our students achieve their educational goals," said Lee Emmons, WKCTC vice president of institutional advancement and PJC executive director. "We have wonderful sponsors who support education through this really fun event that celebrates the best of our region, and we encourage anyone who likes to have fun for a good cause to participate!"
Guests may purchase event tickets by calling (270) 534-3094 or online at westkentucky.kctcs.edu > giving > scholarship auction. Individual tickets are $50* and tables of 8 are available for $400* (*Note: Required 6% Kentucky sales tax is included in each ticket price). Supporting Sponsorships are still available for $750.
According to Becky Haus, WKCTC advancement manager and auction chair, the auction offers some items and experiences that aren't available elsewhere. "We have some unique auction items," she said, "with a few surprises in store that you don't want to miss."
The dinner and silent auction begin at 6 p.m. followed by the live auction at 7 p.m.
