Paducah School of Art and Design Opens its Annual Student Exhibition
Free Opening Reception April 13
WKCTC MEDIA RELEASE: Paducah, KY (04/05/2017) — Paducah School of Art and Design is pleased to announce its 2017 Annual Student Exhibition, featuring works by students enrolled in classes and community education programs at PSAD in academic year 2016-2017. The public is invited to attend a free opening reception and awards ceremony for the exhibition Thursday, April 13 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Bill Ford Gallery.
The works on display in the gallery, located in PSAD's 2D and Graphic Design Building at 905 Harrison Street, will include paintings, drawings, design projects, ceramics, photography, metals and jewelry, mixed media, sculpture, fiber art, and multimedia.
Over $500 in cash and purchase awards will be presented at the opening reception, with awards given by category and selected by Stacey Reason, executive director of the Yeiser Art Center. WKCTC President Dr. Anton Reece will also present the WKCTC President's Award, a purchase award now in its sixth year.
"PSAD's annual student exhibition remains our biggest and brightest moment of the year," says PSAD Dean Paul Aho. "It gives our students a true exhibition experience and allows us to reward their efforts with cash prizes."
Aho said this year's exhibition is the first to be hosted in the Ford Gallery and promises to be the art school's most professional student exhibition to date, providing the community a chance to see the strength of the work coming out of our classrooms and studios.
"We are delighted to have Stacey Reason as judge of this year's show, and to represent all the disciplines and media that we teach."
The student exhibition will be on display in the gallery through April 21. Gallery hours for the Bill Ford Gallery are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paducah School of Art and Design, a division of West Kentucky Community and Technical College, offers an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Visual Art and an Associate in Applied Science degree and certificate programs in Visual Communication: Multimedia, as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines. Classes are offered on WKCTC's campus, 905 Harrison Street and at 919 Madison Street.
