WKCTC Commemorates 9/11 with Witness Stories September 10

Free and Open to the Public

Paducah, KY (09/06/2018) — Chris Burnham lives in southern Illinois and Bret Roedemeier lives in Louisville but they have something in common. They were both in Manhattan on September 11, 2001. Their stories of the aftermath of that fateful day will be shared at West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Matheson Library at 11 a.m. September 10. The event is free and open to the public.

During the hour-long presentation, titled, "They Were There," the experiences of Burnham and Roedemeier will be shared by Brent Taylor, WKCTC assistant professor of history and event coordinator. Taylor will be presenting their stories, but using their own words from oral interviews/audio clips. Audience members are welcomed to share their memories of 9/11 following the presentation.

"I believe everyone can remember exactly where they were when they heard about the attack on 9/11," said Taylor. "We don't ever want to forget those who lost their lives. So we want offer this event to honor them and to share important, emotional stories with those too young to remember them."
