WKCTC offering blood banking seminar
Introduction to a career that help save lives
Paducah, KY (02/21/2019) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College is offering a blood banking seminar on March 9 as an introduction to a career that can help save lives. The seminar will be from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the college's Allied Health Building, Room A112.
Seminar participants can find out their blood type can be positive at one facility and negative at another facility. A lab activity with typing participants' blood (only one drop of blood required) will be conducted. The seminar also includes an introduction to blood typing, Hemolytic Disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN), genotype, phenotype, transfusion antigens and antibodies. The cost of the day's seminar is $98 and includes lunch. No book is required.
The blood banking seminar is for educational and informational purposes only. All results are confidential and will not provide reportable test results. No diagnostic information will be given during the seminar. Participants must consult a doctor's care for diagnostic testing.
