WKCTC offering pain management course for healthcare providers February 23
Paducah, KY (02/17/2019) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College is offering a pain management course for healthcare providers February 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Emerging Technology Center, Room 109.
Registration for the course begins at 8 a.m., followed by speakers who will discuss various pain management topics throughout the day. The cost of the course is $100. Lunch is provided.
This course will cover a multidisciplinary review of pain including the science of pain, pharmacological interventions and issues around opioid addiction, resources available for providers including the Choose PT campaign, and appropriate therapeutic interventions in the management of pain. This course has been approved for six continuing education units (CEUs) by the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association and the Kentucky Board of Occupational Therapy.
The CEUs will be provided by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN). For nurses to receive continuing education credit, the participants must sign the roster and provide their license number. Anyone attending this program for credit must attend the entire session and complete an evaluation. Participants not attending the full program will not secure continuing education credits. KBN approval of the individual nursing continuing education program does not constitute endorsement of program content. Those completing the conference and evaluations will receive six contact hours.
Physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, certified occupational therapy assistants, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are encouraged to register for the pain management course.
