WKCTC's Clemens Fine Arts Center Announces New Season at Preview Party August 23

Community Invited

Paducah, KY (08/21/2018) — The community is invited to the big reveal of the 2018-19 season of West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Clemens Fine Arts Center August 23 at 5 p.m.

"We are excited about this season and the opportunity to connect with our audiences. We are looking forward to seeing our season ticket supporters and meeting all of the new patrons and guests visiting us this year," said Clemens Fine Arts Center (CFAC) Director Todd Birdsong. "The preview party is a great opportunity for community members to get season tickets early, to see our space and to reserve their season seats."

Birdsong said a solid set of performances has been put together for this season that will bring a diverse audience to the CFAC, including the center's Backstage Pass Series and mainstage Arts in Focus Series.

Backstage Pass features the talents of local and regional singer/songwriters in a casual, up-close atmosphere with the audience being on the CFAC stage with the performers. Western Kentucky native, Lane Davis, who tours all across the South-Eastern United States, is one of the many performers in the 2018-19 Backstage Pass Series. Davis will also entertain the audience at the August 23 preview party, performing a few of her favorite songs that will also be featured at her upcoming Backstage Pass concert later this fall.

This year's Arts In Focus Series will bring audiences a taste of country music, both new and classic, a sense of humor and the kinetic narrative of contemporary dance. Four-time Grammy Award winner Steve Wariner will be just one of the featured artists in this series.

"We are also introducing a new series this year called the Exposure Series," said Birdsong. "It focuses on enabling audiences and artists to inquire, experiment, develop, and experience the dynamic relationship between our senses, technology, and our worlds while exploring ideas with a cross-disciplinary and more mission-based approach." Birdsong said all will be revealed August 23.

Hors d' oeuvres will be served at the preview party. Those who plan to attend the preview party, need to R.S.V.P. by August 22 to Julie Moore at julie.moore@kctcs.edu or 270-534-3212.
