WKCTC's Paducah School of Art and Design Opens 2018 Annual Student Exhibition April 26

Paducah, KY (04/19/2018) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) will open its 2018 Annual Student Exhibition, featuring works by students enrolled in classes at PSAD in academic year 2017-2018.

A free opening reception and an awards ceremony will be held Thursday, April 26, between 5 and 7 p.m. in the Bill Ford Gallery within PSAD's 2D and Graphic Design Building at 905 Harrison Street.

Works on display will include paintings, drawings, design projects, ceramics, photography, metals and jewelry, mixed media, sculpture, fiber art, and multimedia. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Over $500 in cash and purchase awards will be presented, with the award winning works by category being selected by Chris Lavery, interim department chair and associate professor of art and Design at Murray State University (MSU). WKCTC President Anton Reece will also present the WKCTC President's Award, now in its seventh year.

"PSAD's annual student exhibition remains our biggest and brightest moment of the year. This annual showcase of our students' works provides them a true exhibition experience and allows us to reward their best works with cash prizes," said art school director Paul Aho. "This year's exhibition will once again be hosted in the Bill Ford Gallery and promises to be our most accomplished student exhibition to date and will provide the community a chance to see the strength of the work coming out of our classrooms and studios. We are delighted to have Chris Lavery from MSU as judge of this year's show, and to represent all the disciplines and media that we teach."

The student exhibition runs through May 3. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College's PSAD offers an associate in fine arts degree in visual art and an associate in applied science degree and certificate programs in visual communication: multimedia, as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines. Classes are offered on WKCTC's campus, at 905 Harrison Street and 919 Madison Street.
