"Discover Your Path" registration event for new and returning WKCTC students on July 31

Paducah, KY (07/26/2024) — "Discover Your Path" registration event for new and returning WKCTC students on July 31

On July 31 West Kentucky Community and Technical College will offer the "Discover YourPath" event, geared toward adults who are interested in a new career, or looking to upskill their current career. The event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., will include opportunities for new students to fill out their application, meet with financial aid, plan their Fall 2024 semester schedule with WKCTC advisors, and much more. Fall semester begins August 19.

"We encourage those in our region who have not attended college, or who started but did not finish a degree, to take this opportunity to come visit with us and find out what is possible," said Tammy Maines, Interim Dean of Enrollment Management. "We understand it is often difficult to find time to take this first step and want to make the process as easy as possible for busy adults."

The event will take place in the Anderson Technical Building, 5200 Blandville Road, and will include drawings for door prizes during the day for those who attend.

WKCTC offers more than 200 different credentials - a degree, a diploma, or a certificate - in a variety of career and academic programs that can help students enter directly into the workforce or transfer to a four-year university. Evening and online class options are available. Some short-term certificates may be earned in as little as four months.

Financial aid and grant opportunities are available for eligible students. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in the Financial Aid process. Advisors from the Financial Aid office will be available to assist students in completing the application, and to discuss other potential ways of helping them pay for college.

The college offers the WKCTC Adult Promise Scholarship for new students who are 25 years old or older, and the MacKenzie Scott Opportunities Scholarship (S.O.S.) for new students who are 24 years old and under. In addition, the Work Ready Kentucky scholarship covers tuition for many trade and healthcare programs. Scholarship criteria may be found on the WKCTC website.
