Air Force Colonel Encourages WKCTC Graduates to Capitalize On Success

Paducah, KY (06/02/2022) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College recognized and celebrated the Class of 2022 during commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 7.

Dr. Chrystal Dilworth Henderson was thrilled to be in Paducah speaking to more than 175 candidates for graduation during WKCTC's Spring Commencement recently at the Carson Center for Performing Arts.

"Today is, for each and every one of you, a beginning. Today is the first day of the rest of your life," said Henderson, a Heath High School and Paducah Community College graduate. "You should capitalize on the momentum you have built and use it to your advantage to take your success to the next level."

Henderson transferred to the University of Louisville, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in biology and a Doctor of Medicine. A colonel in the United States Air Force, she completed residency training in Family Medicine and entered Active-Duty service in 2001. Colonel Henderson is now the director of medical operations for the Department of the Air Force Inspection Agency, Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

"You had a goal and vision when you enrolled at West Kentucky (Community and Technical College," Henderson told the graduates. "You've achieved the first step and have now set yourself onto a path for bigger, better and greater things."

More than 800 WKCTC students were eligible to receive associate degrees, diplomas, or certificates during Spring 2022. In addition to the candidates for graduation, more than 50 students received nursing pins during the ceremony.

Students with one asterisk in front of their name graduated with distinction with a grade point average of 3.4-3.5, while students with two asterisks graduated with high distinction with a grade point average of 3.6-4.0.
