Students Celebrate Workforce Development on Going Pro Day in Kentucky
Paducah, KY (03/20/2025) — Next month West Kentucky Community and Technical College will recognize graduates who are making an immediate impact in Kentucky's growing workforce, as part of Going Pro Day, an official day dedicated to highlighting the significant role workforce development plays in preparing students for high-wage, high-demand careers.
"This day is a reflection of the strong partnerships we've built between WKCTC, local businesses, and our students," said WKCTC President Dr. Anton Reece, "Going Pro Day is about celebrating the successes of our students and highlighting the critical role workforce training plays in our state's economic growth."
As the workforce in Kentucky faces a critical shortage of skilled professionals, especially in middle-skilled roles, the state's investment in workforce development programs has never been more important. With projections showing that 72% of U.S. jobs will require some form of postsecondary education or training by 2031, including over 1.3 million jobs in Kentucky alone, Going Pro Day shines a spotlight on the importance of preparing students for these high-demand positions.
In addition to the students being recognized, representatives from local businesses will join the event to share how their partnerships with WKCTC have helped fill critical roles in their organizations. These collaborations are essential for addressing the growing need for a skilled workforce in Kentucky.
- When: April 17, 9 - 11 a.m.
- Where: Emerging Technology Center (ETC) 4810 Alben Barkley Drive
