Paducah, KY (08/10/2018) — Livingston County resident Debbie Swain was recently named a Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (FAST). The designation recognizes individuals for upholding the highest standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession, and whose professional activities have been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care.
A release by the Association of Surgical Technologists named Swain among 172 certified surgical technologists designed as FAST Fellows in 2018.
The candidate designated as a Fellow is recognized as one whose dedication to professional excellence has furthered the practice of surgical technology. Swain is the surgical technology program coordinator at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
A WKCTC 1982 surgical technology graduate, Swain has taught at the college for more than 20 years and has maintained certification as a certified surgical technologist (CST) for 35 years. She was honored by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) last year for her long-term service as a surgical technologist.
The FAST began in 2006 as an opportunity to recognize surgical technologists who have achieved the highest professional standards.
