WKCTC Accepting Nominations for 2024-25 Regional Educators Awards and Scholarship Program (REASP)

Awards recognize pre-kindergarten through high school educators, administrators, and staff members in western Kentucky and southern Illinois

Paducah, KY (10/21/2024) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) is now accepting nominations for its 2024-2025 Regional Educators Awards and Scholarship Program (REASP), recognizing pre-kindergarten through high school educators, administrators, and staff members in western Kentucky and southern Illinois. The deadline for nominations is noon on Friday, November 22.

WKCTC President Anton Reece established this red-carpet event to recognize the vital role pre-K-12 teachers, administrators and staff members play in shaping the lives of their students and impacting their communities and society. This is the eighth year for the program that continues to grow in honoring educators for all they do each day. Last year, more than 271 faculty, staff, and administrators received nominations from area students, parents, community members and colleagues. Of those nominated, more than 130 people confirmed their nomination and were honored at the REASP in March 2024.

This year's ceremony-on March 27- will again be a live event in WKCTC's Clemens Fine Art Center. The event will also be livestreamed on the college's Facebook page.

Monetary awards will be given in the following categories:

Distinguished Faculty - Pre-Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

Distinguished Faculty - 4th - 8th Grade

Distinguished Faculty - 9th - 12th Grade

Distinguished Administrator

Cornelia Reece Unsung Hero Support Staff Award (for staff such as custodiens, secretaries, cafeteria workers, etc.)

Cornelia Reece Unsung Hero Administrative Staff Award (for staff such as counselors, coaches, family resource coordinators, etc.)

The Unsung Hero Staff awards are named in honor of Dr. Reece's wife, Cornelia, who was involved in K-12 education in Paducah for 13 years with the Family Resource Center and 13 years in Knoxville, Tenn., with Project Graduation.

In conjunction with the awards program, a scholarship was established for WKCTC students interested in K-12 teaching, early childhood education, or educational majors to encourage and assist the region's future educators.

All nominees who complete a REASP nomination confirmation will be invited and recognized at the live awards ceremony on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Winners in each category will be announced at the event.
