WKCTC adjunct instructor Paul Schaumburg named 2018 KASA Administrator of the Year

Paducah, KY (08/08/2018) — Paducah resident Paul Schaumburg was recently selected as the district level Administrator of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators. He was presented the award at KASA's 50th Annual Leadership Institute in Louisville in late July.

The community relations director for Graves County Schools, Schaumburg earned an associate of arts degree at the former Paducah Community College in 1980. In more recent years, he has taught basic public speaking as an adjunct instructor at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.

This award represents the highest honor KASA bestows annually on practicing administrators, recognizing outstanding leadership, significant contributions to the effectiveness of the association, and the honor they bring to themselves, their colleagues, and their profession.

Described by his colleagues as a servant-leader who is talented, highly effective, widely respected, and admired by colleagues, students, and parents, Schaumburg serves as both an ambassador and voice of the Graves Co. Schools. He is a teacher to many when it comes to effective communications and outstanding customer service. Through the years, he has shared thousands of great stories about the district's students and staff through both spoken and written word.

"Paul clearly understands how communication connects us to others, facilitates task achievement, and furthers the goals of the district," said Linda Salyer, Public Relations Director, Daviess County Schools, in nominating Schaumburg. "He maintains the philosophy of going the extra mile by always shining the light on others. He has combined communication and education to make a difference."

The Kentucky Association of School Administrators is the largest school administrators' group in Kentucky, representing more than 3,100 education leaders from across the commonwealth.
