WKCTC Education Express Tour Makes Third Stop in Livingston County

by Justin Jones

Paducah, KY (04/18/2025) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) made the third stop of its regional "Your Community, Your College, Your Future" Education Express tour April 17 at the Livingston County Board of Education.

More than 20 students, parents and community leaders attended the event, which offered an opportunity to engage with WKCTC faculty and staff and discuss the value of education in the region.

The Education Express tour is the vision of WKCTC President Anton Reece and is designed to celebrate education while honoring local leaders, educators, students, businesses and nonprofit organizations across western Kentucky.

"At the end of the day, the number one key purpose is it's very important to highlight and celebrate education, and in your respective roles, you champion the importance of education," Reece said. "And second, an opportunity for us to bring the college to you - meaning where you are - to be able to answer any questions, provide us with some feedback and ways we can keep this partnership going."

During the event, WKCTC staff highlighted the critical role of education in workforce development and economic growth. Certificates of recognition were presented to Livingston County Schools Superintendent David Meinshcein, City of Smithland Mayor William Hesser and Livingston County Judge-Executive Michael Williams.

"I do appreciate Dr. Reece having everybody here and encouraging our community to continue their education," Williams said. "They offer a tremendous amount of programs compared to when I graduated high school back when it was PCC."

The Education Express tour continues this spring with five additional stops:

April 24 - Marshall County Board of Education, 86 High School Road, Benton, Kentucky

April 29 - Ballard County High School Cafeteria, 3561 Paducah Road, Barlow, Kentucky (serving Ballard and Carlisle counties)

May 1 - Murray/Calloway County Area Technology Center, 126 Robertson Road North, Murray, Kentucky

May 6 - Pontotoc Civic Center, 112 E. State Line St., Fulton, Kentucky (serving Fulton and Hickman counties)

May 15 - Pope County High School Community Room, 125 State Highway 146 West, Golconda, Illinois

WKCTC encourages community members, educators, students and business leaders to attend and take part in ongoing conversations about the future of education in the region.
