WKCTC Hosts 'Going Pro Day' to Celebrate Workforce-Bound Graduates

by Justin Jones

Paducah, KY (04/18/2025) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College held the annual Going Pro Day on Thursday, April 17, celebrating students who are entering the workforce after graduation.

The event, designed to emulate the signing ceremonies popular in athletics, recognized three WKCTC students for their professional achievements and career readiness.

Honorees included Joan McLeod-Philbee, who will be employed as a Family Support Specialist II for the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services; Pam Pinnegar, who has accepted a role as Billing Coordinator at The Wellness Place; and Alex Crenshaw, who has joined Baptist Outpatient Rehab as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

"The employment rate is exceptionally high, and the dynamic professors and teachers at WKCTC help support, prepare and train students to be successful and ready to work," said WKCTC President Anton Reece.

Pinnegar said participating in the event felt like the culmination of a long journey. "This was satisfaction," she said. "I completed a goal that I set for myself, and to be recognized made me feel special and seen for my hard work."

"I am truly empowered," said McLeod-Philbee. "I'm aware that I'm not alone. There are people behind me, supporting me, and it feels so good. I am truly honored, and it's a privilege-thank you."

Although Crenshaw was unable to attend the ceremony, he was acknowledged during Thursday's celebration via video.

Going Pro Day is part of WKCTC's ongoing efforts to honor student success and highlight the transition from education to employment in the region.
