Tour celebrates education, honors local leaders
Paducah, KY (04/11/2025) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) hosted the second stop of its regional "Your Community, Your College, Your Future" Education Express tour April 10 at the Massac County Community Center.
More than 40 students, parents and local leaders attended the event, which offered an opportunity to meet WKCTC faculty and staff and discuss the importance of education in the region.
The Education Express tour is the vision of WKCTC President Dr. Anton Reece and is designed to celebrate education while recognizing community leaders, educators, students, businesses and nonprofit organizations across the region.
"Students who want to come to us and go directly to work - we've got you," said Reece. "Those who come to us who want to transfer to great universities like Southern Illinois University, or on the Kentucky side with Murray State University - we're ready to do business."
During the event, WKCTC staff spoke about the role of education in workforce development and economic growth. Certificates of recognition were presented to Metropolis Mayor-elect Gregg Jeffords, Massac County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jimmy Burnham and Vice Chairman Jeff Brugger.
"I would like to ultimately recognize the importance of collaboration with education, local community leaders and our employers," said Jeffords. "I look forward to working with you all in the future."
