WKCTC Justice Run to benefit Child Abuse Prevention

Justice Run 5K and One-Mile Fun Run to Raise Funds for Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment

Paducah, KY (01/24/2025) — The 14th Annual Justice Run 5K Walk/Run, is set for Saturday, April 26, 2025, on the campus of West Kentucky Community and Technical College. The community is invited to participate in this meaningful event to raise funds for the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Organized by students in Alpha Epsilon Beta - the Student Justice Club at WKCTC, this annual event aims to make a significant impact in the fight against child abuse, while also providing an opportunity for the community to come together in support of this vital cause.

The Justice Run will feature a 5K race beginning at 5 p.m., followed by a one-mile fun run/walk at 6 p.m. A special awards ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. to honor the top participants. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Child Watch, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting victims of child abuse and working toward the prevention of future cases.

"We are proud to be a part of such an important initiative," said Gary Reese, Professor of Criminal Justice at the college. "Over the past thirteen years, our students have shown tireless dedication to this cause, raising over $30,000 for Child Watch. Their hard work and commitment to this mission are truly inspiring, and we're excited to continue this tradition."

Registration for the event is open now, with a fee of $25. Participants who register by April 1 are guaranteed a race shirt. Day-of registration will be available from 3 - 4:45 p.m. on April 26, though race shirts are not guaranteed for those registering on the day of the event.

"This is a great opportunity for our community to come together, raise awareness, and make a big difference in the lives of children affected by abuse," Reese added. "Whether participants walk, run, or volunteer, every effort counts and every dollar raised helps further the fight against child abuse."

* Registration and start location: Anderson Technical Building, WKCTC

* Registration Fee: $25

* Pre-registration Deadline: April 1, 2025 (Guaranteed race shirt)

* Day-of Registration: 3:00 - 4:45 p.m. (Race shirt not guaranteed)
