West Kentucky Community and Technical College students Gabriel Crider and Jennifer Davis-Cooley will be the student speakers for 2014 Fall Commencement at the Luther Carson Four Rivers Center December 15. Commencement begins at 7 p.m. The 2014 nursing pinning ceremony will precede commencement at 5 p.m., with 42 nursing students receiving nursing pins representing the completion of the college's Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.

Forty-two WKCTC nursing students will receive nursing pins representing completion of the Associate Degree in Nursing Program. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. December 15 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center.

Courtney Walker was recently selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as a 2014 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar.

WKCTC nursing student Esther Peters will discuss on November 19 as part of the WKCTC Science Series how she trained her dog Gaston to be able to detect her glucose levels and alert her. The WKCTC Science Seminar Series, established in 1985, is sponsored by science faculty members and was initiated to provide a forum for science-related topics not usually covered in the WKCTC curriculum. The series is open to WKCTC students, faculty and staff and community members.

WKCTC's Student of the Month program is designed to recognize the accomplishments of students on campus. Individuals selected must be currently enrolled at WKCTC and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and are nominated on the basis of exceptional performance, personal attributes, academic excellence and active participation in various student organizational activities.

Nine West Kentucky Community & Technical College students are part of the cast of William Shakespeare's The Tempest which plays in the Clemens Fine Arts Center on campus.

New officers for the Future Educators' Club at West Kentucky Community and Technical College have been announced. They are Hillary Price, president; Clarissa Pease, vice president; Elizabeth Reed, secretary; and JoAnn Koster, treasurer.

The West Kentucky Stars basketball team at West Kentucky Community and Technical College will support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Pink-Out event on October 30.

Officers named for the 2014 Alpha Epsilon Beta club at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. They are Danielle Duncan, president; Rhonda Miller, vice president; and Allye Smithson, secretary.

Fifteen West Kentucky Community and Technical College students have been named to the 2014-2015 West Kentucky Stars Basketball Team.

New officers and members were recently named to WKCTC's Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) Art and Design Club.

For the third time, West Kentucky Community and Technical College has been named one of ten finalists for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation's preeminent recognition of high achievement and performance in America's community colleges.

More than 175 people from around the heartland participated in the 2014 Enrollment Blast at West Kentucky Community & Technical College in July.

More than 45 West Kentucky Community and Technical College registered nursing graduates and 34 practical nursing graduates received nursing pins during a special ceremony in May. The nurse pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. WKCTC nursing faculty presented each new nurse with the unique pin. Two West Kentucky Community and Technical College students are among only ten students nationwide to receive prestigious dental scholarship.

Benton resident Shea Wilson was one of nine students named to the 2014 Kentucky Physical Therapy Association All-Academic Team (KPTA). The Kentucky Physical Therapist Association and RehabCare, a leading provider of rehabilitation services, bestowed the honor to students from Kentucky's PTA and Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs.

Four West Kentucky Community and Technical College students were among more than 1,800 of America's best and brightest college students who recently traveled to the historic city of Nashville to make some history of their own as they showcased their talents as future business leaders and vied for the opportunity to win over $79,000 in cash awards.
