WKCTC student Jalin Burnette of Paducah will be playing "The Little Red Hen" in the Market House Theatre's production of "The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales," at 2:30 p.m. October 15 and October 16. Part of Market House Theatre's Family Series, the show is based on the Caldecott honor book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. Jalin is a first year student at WKCTC. Ten students in West Kentucky Community and Technical College's dental assisting program recently volunteered at Paducah's Community Kitchen serving over 300 people and providing oral health education. Great work ladies!

Ten West Kentucky Community and Technical College physical therapist assistant students attended the state conclave for the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association in Louisville October 1-2, 2016. The conference provides physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students networking opportunities and educational sessions on various topics.

New officers of West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Alpha Epsilon Beta Club have been named for 2016.

Students in West Kentucky Community & Technical College's surgical technology program recently collected more than 75 toys for the Easter Seals of West Kentucky as part of a community service project.

The following students have earned recognition for their academic work by being named to the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Dean's List for the Spring 2016 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be a full-time WKCTC student earning at least a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) and successfully completing 12 hours or more of course work numbered 100 or above for the academic term.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College recognized more than 200 candidates for graduation who participated in its Spring Commencement Ceremonies May 7, 2015 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. More than 780 WKCTC students were eligible to receive an associate degree, diploma or certificate.

Students in West Kentucky Community and Technical College's diagnostic medical sonography program collected and donated several pounds of pull tabs for St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Students in WKCTC's Alpha Epsilon Beta, the local chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, raised $2000 this year with its 5K Fun Run. This makes a grand total of $7300 the students have raised for Child Watch through races over the last 5 years. Their goal next year is to make it to the $10,000 mark! West Kentucky Community and Technical College recognized 100 of its top students during its 2016 Honors Ceremony April 28 in the Clemens Fine Arts Center.

Two West Kentucky Community and Technical College students were recenly named to the 2016 All-USA Academic Team and will be recognized for thier achievements during the college's Honors Ceremony April 28 in the Clemens Fine Arts Center. Congratulations Georgiana Roberts of Mayfield and Jansen Barrett of Benton on this honor!

Seven nursing students in WKCTC's chapter of the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses (NFLPN) recently volunteered to help the Hugs Project of Western Kentucky with clean up, sorting and packaging. Several of the nurses' children and loved ones also helped. The Hugs Project of Western Kentucky is a 100% volunteer organization funded solely on donations, and sends care packages to deployed soldiers. Congratulations to Jessica Alexander for recently being named WKCTC's March Student of the Month!

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

On the heels of being named Student of the Year, Georgiana Roberts of Mayfield was recently named a prestigious New Century Scholar. She is only the second WKCTC student to receive the national honor.

WKCTC's dental assisting students celebrated Dental Assisting Recognition Week March 7-11, 2016. The students visited their clinical sites, delivered thank you packages with their own special cake creations and all students completed thank you cards and sent to all clinical sites. Congratulations to Georgiana Roberts of Mayfield for recently being named 2015 Student of the Year at West Kentucky Community and Technical College! Selection of the Student of the Year is based on continuous academic performance, active participation in various student organizational activities and community service, while exhibiting a positive and encouraging attitude. Students had to maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 or higher and must have held and been successful in a significant leadership role on campus or within the community.

Four Alpha Epsilon Beta students recently volunteered at Paducah's Community Kitchen to help feed the homeless. "We are so proud ot these young ladies. Our students are always looking for ways to give back to the community," said Gary Reese, AEB advisor. AEB is WKCTC's local chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association. Three WKCTC students were selected as winners of the college's spring 2016 One Book Read essay contest. The essays were based on themes in the WKCTC One Book Read of Ron Rash's Saints at the River. Oluwaseun "Sean" Sholola was recently named February Student of the Month at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Two outstanding culinary art students at West Kentucky Community and Technical College were recently awarded a Charles Armstrong Scholarship by the Paducah Hospitality Association.

Congratulations to Skylar Nunley on winning the Kentucky Education Association-Student Program Marvin Dodson-Carl Perkins Scholarship for 2016. The KEA Student Program is a professional association for college students preparing to enter the teaching profession. It has members at 36 Kentucky colleges and universities.

WKCTC's Nicholas Jagielo was recently named to the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame. He was one of twelve students in the state to receive the honor. Congratulations Nicholas!

Congratulations to Barbara Adams of Paducah! She was recently named as the November Student of the Month at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Fifty West Kentucky Community and Technical College nursing students participated in the college's Fall 2015 nursing pinning ceremony December 14 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center.
